Ed Brennan is a full-time, professional life coach and
motivational speaker. Ed is a great believer in the idea that people can have
more that one “career” in their life and can be serial specialists, working at
different careers at different stages of their life. In accordance with this
belief, he has confidently and successfully worked in various careers over 17
years in the public and private sectors including IT, public healthcare and
also in the private sector. He now works full-time as a professional life coach
helping people to achieve balance and fulfilment in their life, focus on the
things they want to achieve in life and motivating them to achieve those
things.
Ed has clients throughout Munster and the Mid-West region
and also in Dublin. His style of coaching is active and enthusiastic,
challenging and inspirational. Ed is an accomplished public speaker, trainer
and motivator. Ed is 38, married with three children and lives in Nenagh. When
not coaching, motivating and inspiring people to achieve great things Ed likes
to renovate old things like cars, bikes, boats and antiques.
The typical clients of Integrated Life are:

their lives, particularly about
Generally clients will meet with the coach for
between three and five sessions. Each session is normally 1 and ¼ hours
duration. During the sessions the client and coach will discuss issues relative
to the day to day life of the client. Sometimes the clients will have areas of
dissatisfaction in their life and the coach will help to identify a strategy to
improve this. The clients may have specific goals that they wish to achieve and
needs motivation or clarification.
It is not the job of the coach to be your best
friend – it is the job of the coach to hold a mirror up to your life and replay
back to you the things you say so you can hear them from a different perspective.
This is often the catalyst for change with most people – they look at their
life through someone else’s eyes and when they don’t like what they see, they
are motivated to change.
Coaching
helped me decide to get back into the workplace after a five year break.
Although I had been planning this for some time, coaching helped me to feel sure
I was making the right decision based on my own needs and feelings rather than
opinions absorbed from everybody else. It helped me to clarify in my own mind
how I feel about different areas of my life and identify what I am really happy
with and what I need to change.
Ed is
very easy to talk to and to open up to. He challenges you and makes you
question your beliefs in an encouraging, non-judgemental way. I would recommend
Ed as a coach to anyone who is serious about making changes in his or her life
and is prepared to move out of the comfort zone and see things from a different
perspective.
Anne, Co Galway
In
business and life people can default to telling you what you like to hear. I found Ed's coaching sessions helped me
understand what I had been thinking for a while and most importantly to find a
possible way forward. Ed’s style was not to tell me what to do but to give his
opinion and help me filter negative and positives to help me make my plan. Ed
was honest, helpful and very down to earth. The coaching I received was real,
practical and challenging.
John, Clonmel.
The
coaching sessions with Ed have really helped me to discover who I really am and
what I want from life. He has given me the courage to face my fears and tackle
the obstacles that hold me back. Worth every penny spent and would highly
recommend Ed as a first class life coach.
Declan, Kildare.
I had
worked with Ed previously for a number of years and was always impressed
by his intelligence, his professional, competent manner and his
common sense view of life. I met Ed for 3 sessions over about 2 months and
during this time the life I would like to lead has crystallised into something
tangible for me. This was not something that Ed discovered for
me, but the great thing about our sessions was that he initially opened
my eyes to the possibility of having a better life, and then challenged me on
the impact this new life would have on the various aspects of myself that
define who I am. At our final session I was amazed at how calm I felt about
this new adventure (in contrast to my anxiety during our first meeting), and
confidently answered Ed's probing questions which reaffirmed to me that I am
going down the right path. It is in all of us to enjoy life more. I would
highly recommend Ed to anyone looking to improve the quality of their life, or
any aspect of it.
John, West Coast
In today’s world it’s so easy to be pulled and
pushed into directions that you never thought you’d go. Knowing what you want
and what really matters to you, helps you to take control of the direction life
is taking you. Ed has been a great coach making me aware of the doors and
choices that are open to me, by getting me to consider these things myself.
This sort of thought process did not come naturally to me and I found Ed’s
approach to be very helpful in teasing these thoughts from me and helping to
clarify goals for the future that will help keep me do the things I want to do.
I can recommend Ed without any hesitation.
D
O’Sullivan, Tipperary.
It has been such a gratifying and eye-opening
experience working with Ed. He took a very human yet professional approach in
my sessions with him, wisely interpreting the information I gave him and
putting it into a context relevant to my own life. I gained a deeper
understanding about myself and admitted openly for the first time where I
wanted to be in my life. On helping me to establish clear goals, Ed helped me
uncover the confidence I needed to take a more rewarding path in both my
personal and professional lives. I can happily recommend this worthwhile
experience.
Alison,
Limerick.
My coaching sessions with Ed had such a positive
effect on me both personally and professionally. I feel empowered by my self
awareness and happy in the knowledge that I’m now leading the life that I want
to lead.
Ed is a great coach. He has a very non-invasive and
professional approach. Most importantly I felt very secure talking to Ed as
there was an implicit trust. It was a pleasure working with him and I’d happily
recommend him.
Catherine,
Nenagh
I found great benefit from the coaching sessions
with Ed. They allowed me to zone in on a number of areas in both my
personal and professional lives, thereby helping me to achieve certain goals I
deemed were important in a much shorter time than if I had not had coaching.
Ed is an intelligent and insightful person and I greatly enjoyed the sessions.
I can highly recommend it.
Conor,
Limerick
I found coaching to be
hugely beneficial and it helped me prioritize the more important things in
life. It also helped me focus on how to re-organise my work-life balance and
create more time for what really mattered.
Diarmuid,
Co Galway
Through Ed's excellent coaching, I was drawn not to
discover what somebody else thinks I should be doing, but what it is I really
want to do myself. Life coaching made me hold a mirror up to myself and
look at life through my own eyes and establish what really matters to me.
Once you know what your goals are, it is so much easier to achieve them.
It has helped make everyday decision making much easier and has given me a
focus. I'm looking forward to the rest of the journey now that I know
what is possible.
Donal,
Limerick
Life coaching has helped me to identify my core values
in life which are now central in guiding me towards achieving my dreams and
ambitions. Ed was excellent at challenging me, by asking many probing questions
which made me look at certain aspects of my life in more detail. I would highly
recommend Ed, as he has coached me in a very professional and confidential
manner which has been invaluable to my personal development.
Tony,
Limerick.
Some other information
Coaching is a one-to-one, client-centred
relationship in which the coach will discuss the client’s satisfaction with
different elements in his or her life. Coaching is a means of facilitating
people to become in tune with their values, purpose in life and their goals.
This leads to self-awareness, focus, clarity, improved decision-making, and
ultimately, inner harmony. Short-term and long-term goals can be identified,
targeted and achieved.
People typically go to a lifecoach when they have
uncertainty in their mind or when they want to do something but can’t find the
motivation. They may be uncertain about the roles they play in their personal
life, or in their professional life. They may be thinking of changing their job
or their career either by choice, or because of redundancy. They may have a
goal that they would like to achieve but are not sure if it is the right goal
or if it is achievable.
There are many benefits to coaching and different
clients will experience something different, depending on what they are looking
for in life. Some benefits include:

Ed kindly presented to the Clare Branch of Network
Ireland on "Overcoming the Fear of Failure" - a subject that was of interest
to all of our members, as most are owners of small businesses where failure can
be a devastating outcome. He was insightful and knowledgeable, and helped us
view failure as a fundamental learning experience. Ed's style was friendly and
informal, he provoked thought, and his excellent handouts gave us valuable
reading material to review.
Sarah
Malone, Vice-President 2008, Clare Branch, Network Ireland.
Ed spoke to us at our annual meeting in February
2008 on the topic of "What do you do when you want to do everything".
His talk was entertaining and relevant to those of us who have a busy schedule
between professional, personal and academic commitments. Ed blended
strategies on time management and task prioritisation with anecdotes from
his eclectic career and personal experience as an entrepreneur. His style
of delivery was witty and informative. Feedback from our attendees was
excellent.

The
fee per session for personal coaching is €120. As well as the one-to-one
coaching session, the fee includes email and telephone support. Normally a
client will require three sessions although sometimes a client will be able to
move forward after two sessions and this is the minimum number of sessions. The
first session might last for up to 1¼ hours and after that they are generally
between 1 and 1¼ hours long. Not very expensive compared to the cost of a pair
of Jimmy Choo shoes, a surfboard, a Gucci watch or a weekend in Prague. How
much value do you place on taking control of your life or career, achieving
your long-held goals and moving closer to a life that you really enjoy?
